About Crypto.com
Crypto.com was founded on June 30th, 2016 by Kris Marszalek, who is the current CEO, with the vision of “Cryptocurrency in Every Wallet” and a mission to “accelerate the world’s transition to cryptocurrency”, their headquarter is located in Hong Kong and they also have an office in Singapore, however, no address was provided on their website.
Crypto.com was also known as Monaco, which was the name of their token, Monaco (MCO) which has changed to Crypto.com Coin (CRO), which is currently ranked in the top 10 cryptocurrencies on CoinMarketCap, with a market cap of over 3 billion USD.
In the first half of 2017, Monaco launched its own token, MCO, which was funded via an ICO. The ICO took place from May 18 to June 18, and Monaco managed to raise approximately USD 26,7 million worth of crypto by selling 12,135,542 MCO tokens (out of 31,587,682 in total supply.)
In July 2018, Monaco announced its rebranding to Crypto.com and began shipping its MCO Visa Cards a few months later. At the same time, the company announced the launch of Crypto.com Chain with its native CRO token. Since then, CRO tokens were airdropped to MCO token holders.
Late in 2019, Crypto.com launched its own crypto-to-crypto exchange, thus aiming to win a bigger market share amongst crypto traders. Earlier this year, the company also launched its Crypto.com Pay, Earn, and Crypto Credit services and their MCO Visa Cards started shipping in the United States.
In 2020, the company launched its non-custodial DeFi Wallet and DeFi Swap services, as well as started delivering MCO Visa cards to its European customers. The company also decided to phase out the MCO token completely by swapping it to CRO, meaning that from now on, MCO Visa card users will have to stake CRO tokens for cashback rewards.

Services Provided
The Crypto.com App
As we said earlier, the heart of Crypto.com, it’s a mobile app available for iOS and Android. The app gives you complete access to the whole Crypto.com ecosystem. You can securely buy, sell, store, send and track not only crypto but also fiat, when you look up the app on their website they describe it as “ The only place to buy crypto at true cost”, a bold statement! You can buy and sell 7 fiat and 55 cryptocurrencies and monitor over 200 coins. However, on this app you do not have the keys for the wallets; after all, it’s an app for an exchange, which is normal in the business, this means you are entrusting your funds to Crypto.com.
Wallet
We already said that you can store crypto on the Crypto.com App, why would they also offer a separate wallet? The answer is quite easy since the app works with an exchange you don’t have full control over the wallets, you will not have the keys and phrases of said wallets, however, with the non-custodial Crypto.com wallet you do! This is a completely separate wallet which can be downloaded as a separate app. It allows you to have full control over your private keys so you are the only one in control over your assets, you can even link this wallet to the app for easy transfer of your funds between them.
Exchange
It’s pretty straight forward, a crypto to crypto exchange, you can either sign in with your Crypto.com App account or sign up separately, but take note, if you do sign in with your App account you will get more benefits such as promotions and bonuses plus access to all the features of the exchange. This exchange is powered by CRO, with deep liquidity and low fees.
Crypto.com Earn
In a nutshell, it’s interesting, you can earn from 2% to 18% per year depending on what coin you choose and if you are staking CRO or not, the interest is paid weekly in the same coin you picked (BTC interest is paid in BTC, etc.).
Crypto.com Credit
A lending platform, you can instantly get a loan in PAX/TUSD/USDC/USDT by offering your crypto assets as collateral, you can pay whenever you want with no statement deadlines, plus, no credit checks required.
Crypto.com Pay
An option for merchants to tap into the cryptocurrency economy, it allows merchants to accept payments in crypto on their websites, with low fees or even no fees. Merchants accept cryptocurrency and get paid in their fiat currency of choice.
Crypto.com MCO Visa card
Crypto.com offers many types of debit cards, each of them with different requirements to get and benefits. We will delve deeper into this subject since this is the reason why you are reading this, right?
5 types of debit cards
Crypto.com offers a total of 5 debit cards, one of them is free (made of plastic) and the other 4 (made of composite metal) require that the user stakes CRO tokens. All the cards are Visa, which means that they are accepted anywhere where Visa is accepted. However for the metal cards, users must commit to stake CRO tokens for 6 months, staking amounts can range from 1,000 CRO tokens to 1,000,000 CRO tokens, the more you stake the more benefits the card has.
In this screenshot from their website you can see most of the details of each card, they even have airport lounge access and free Spotify and Netflix, however, take into account that the offers with three asterisks are independent offers launched by Crypto.com, no partnership at all with the merchants, so they are free to modify or even cease those offers. To see all rewards and benefits (because they are many) you can follow this link (https://help.crypto.com/en/articles/2742447-mco-visa-card-rewards-benefits).
Fees, Pricing, and Limits
The Crypto.com MCO Visa cards are free, however, the type of card you receive and their benefits will vary depending on how much CRO tokens you stake, after the 6 month staking period you can stop staking CRO tokens, but this will greatly decrease the benefits you get.
Crypto.com DeFi Swap fees
Unlike the app or exchange, the Crypto.com DeFi swap allows you to connect your personal Ethereum wallet for simple and effortless ERC-20 token swaps. Typically, you will pay 0.3% fees to liquidity providers as the token swapping fees to support the run of smart contracts.
You can connect Defi Swap with Crypto.com Defi Wallet. When transferring crypto in the Ethereum network, you will have to pay gas fees. You can conveniently choose between average, fast, and super transaction confirmation speeds, where average and super-fast represent low and very high transaction fees respectively.
Available countries
The cards are available in Singapore, the United States, and several countries in Asia Pacific and the European Union, and Crypto.com is currently making preparations for Canada. Detailed shipment dates for each of the markets depend on the completion of local compliance requirements by Crypto.com and their partners. Crypto.com advises that it’s best to download their App and do the whole process through it as you can receive every notification through it, such as when the card is ready for shipping.
However, some Crypto.com services may be subject to certain geo-restrictions.
Upon registration, you will be asked to verify your identity. You will need to provide the platform with your:
- Full legal name
- Picture of a government-issued ID
- Selfie as proof of liveness
- In order to get an MCO Visa card, you will also need to verify your residence address with a recent (not older than 3 months) utility bill.
Crypto.com User Experience
Crypto.com’s website is very simple to use, it has a minimalistic and straight to the point design with a theme of white, blue and gray. All information is available with a few clicks. Their FAQ section is very complete and you can find most of the information you might need on both the website and their FAQ, the website is also equipped with a bot with which you can chat to ask questions and through it you can contact their support as well as use it as a search bar for their articles.
In case there is some information you need but weren’t able to find, Crypto.com has several ways for contact on the bottom of their website, so it is fairly easy to contact their team.

Crypto.com is a very complete crypto platform with very competitive fees which offers promotions and bonuses very frequently for their users, however in order to get the best benefits they require their users to stake their own token (CRO) which can be a deal-breaker to some people.
